The Akathists for the saints and martyrs above can be located through a link on the name. In a few cases, a Canon, Supplicatory Canon and/or Service may substitute for an Akathist when an Akathist isn’t available. Alternatively, when looking for a saint/martyr by month, click on the name of the month at the top of the page or a narrower date range below. The calendar date, using the present Gregorian calendar, follows the “Old Calendar” (Julian) with the “New Calendar” date (Revised Julian – similar to Gregorian) in parentheses. For example, the date of Christmas would look like this: January 7 (December 25). Each saint/martyr entry has a short description about the person and his/her life with a picture along with a pdf and/or a link to the location of the Akathist. For the Theotokos, the picture is of one of her icons with a short description about the icon. Note: The site author writes the posts and pages, but does not write original Akathists, Canons or Services. The author of the Akathist, Canon or Service is specified when known.
